Inspiration behind this exhibition : The Unfurling of a Bird's Wing or Fern
A wing taking flight, birds with their ethereal and weightless movements, have always enchanted me and in those delicate structures of their wings lies a profound inspiration. Just as a bird extends its wings in flight, these pieces seek to capture the essence of the transformation and fluidity, frozen in time. In the unfurling of a bird's wing, I find a symphony of delicate lines and graceful curves. The feathers, layered meticulously, cascade outward in a rhythmic pattern, exploring the perfect symbiosis of strength and fragility.
The botanical wonder, the unfurling of a fern's fronds offers another wellspring of inspiration. The intricate, spiralling patterns exemplify the harmonious relationship between order and chaos, as nature meticulously unfolds itself. Just as a fern emerges from the primordial depths, these sculptures presents themselves as a testament to the perpetual cycles of growth and renewal. The gentle curvature of the a ferns frond lends itself beautifully to sculpture. The mesmerizing play of light and shadow as it bathes the surface, transcending its material form.
