Inside the Foundry: The Modern Alchemist, Integrating Digital Innovation with Traditional Craftsmanship

Bronze casting is an ancient art that has been practiced for thousands of years, yet it remains just as relavent today. In our studio and foundry, everything is crafted entirely under one roof. We don't outsource our work, every single sculpture is born right here through our own hands.

To bring abstract ideas into enduring metal, we blend ancient traditions with modern innovation. Here is a simple look behind the scenes at how a sculpture travels from an original clay model, through to a digital concept model, all the way through to a beautiful permanent bronze sculpture.

One-of-a-Kind Creations

In commercial foundries, artists traditionally rely on plaster or silicone rubber reproduction moulds to produce identical, repeatable copies of a single sculpture, leaving scale and texture rigidly fixed to the original model.

We do things differently, we never cast the exact same piece twice. Every sculpture we create can be scaled to any dimension and customised with a wide range of evolving textures and transitions, ensuring that each piece remains an unrepeatable original (Pièce Unique)

Instead, we use digital tools, like 3D scanning and printing with plant-based or thermoplastic filaments, to build lightweight core structures. We then work directly by hand, adding wax, altering forms and refining textures. This innovative approach replaces rooms full of bulky rubber moulds with clean digital files stored securely on a hard drive, preserving an archive of past work while guaranteeing that every bronze is a one-of-a-kind original touched directly by the artist's hand as part of an evolving lineage, where each new work born joins a growing studio catalogue raisonné, marking a progressive evolution of ideas and concepts moving forward as a family of works.
